The IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency) launched a Technology & Innovation Showcase in Second Life, to promote their work and experiment with virtual world technology. Ireland’s inward investment promotion agency is responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland. Working with V Rising, the IDA chose to locate the exhibit in Dublin SL.

Nortel Networks showcases their Contact Centre 6.0 solution in a virtual banking environment on the Second Life platform. A Second Life user represents a new modern era of web 2.0 customers that want to communicate with companies through email, instant messaging, SMS and virtual worlds.

Learning Management Systems are software applications used to administer, track and report a wide range of E-learning programs. By harnessing the immersive qualities of virtual worlds, E-learning evolves into V-learning (Virtual Learning) replicating existing pedagogical strategies and providing new opportunities for novel immersive and engaging learning experiences. These immersive spaces can be used for collaboration, information retrieval, personal learning, simulation training or social networking.
