
Virtual Showcases and Exhibitions
The IDA Ireland (Industrial Development Agency) launched a Technology & Innovation Showcase in Second Life, to promote their work and experiment with virtual world technology.
Ireland’s inward investment promotion agency is responsible for the attraction and development of foreign investment in Ireland. Working with V Rising, the IDA chose to locate the exhibit in Dublin SL.
The exhibition showcased a wide range of diverse sectors such as engineering, information communications technologies and pharmaceuticals. Visitors could also watch a weekly screening of the Irish Mind six-part series, aired on CNBC last year. The episodes look at different aspects of the Irish mind including business, science, creativity, and the humanities.
Second Life provides a great platform for experimentation as a non-traditional marketing tool. A Machinima of the Exhibit was also filmed to record the event and used for internal marketing purposes.
